PHN Technology is proud to have Dr. Sajan Kapil, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati, on our Advisory Board.
A trailblazer in the field of Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), Robotic and Hybrid AM, and advanced CAD/CAM technologies, Dr. Kapil brings a rare mix of academic depth and industrial innovation. He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, holds degrees from IIT Guwahati and the University of Stuttgart, and currently leads research that’s transforming how we build complex, high-performance parts across industries.

With over 50 international publications and multiple patents, Dr. Kapil’s work focuses on:
i) Developing new metal additive manufacturing systems
ii) Creating build strategies for complex metallic parts
iii) Advancing hybrid manufacturing technologies that merge robotics with 3D printing

Dr. Kapil is a passionate educator. His online course on Additive Manufacturing, hosted on NPTEL YouTube, is one of the most popular AM courses in the country.
He’s also integrating 3D printing into school-level education by designing outreach programs that make it easy for young students to explore 3D tech alongside their regular curriculum.
