Mr. A. E. Muthunayagam is a highly distinguished Indian space scientist and the visionary architect behind India’s liquid propulsion program.
As the founding Director of ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), he led the development of indigenous propulsion technologies that powered many landmark Indian space missions.
His leadership also advanced marine technology and deep-sea exploration under the Department of Ocean Development, expanding India’s footprint in ocean energy and deep-sea mining.
He has held prominent governance roles, including Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Madras and Executive Vice President of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment.
Mr. Muthunayagam has been instrumental in establishing multiple R&D institutions, fostering international collaborations, and mentoring generations of researchers and academic leaders.
