Dr. Laxmidhar Behera

Dr. Laxmidhar Behera is an internationally acclaimed researcher and academic leader, currently serving as the Director of IIT Mandi.
With over three decades of experience across IIT Kanpur, ETH Zurich, Fraunhofer Germany, and the University of Ulster UK, he has made pioneering contributions to intelligent systems, human–robot interaction, and brain–computer interfaces.
His interdisciplinary work bridges robotics with human cognition, focusing on the convergence of technology, intelligence, and consciousness.
Under his leadership, IIT Mandi has emerged as a national hub for AI-driven robotics, cognitive science research, and Indian Knowledge Systems.
He has guided numerous PhD scholars, led high-impact research projects, and published extensively in robotics, cognitive systems, and AI.
